National Business Centre — J&K Bank

Client: Jammu & Kashmir Bank

The challenge was to strike the right balance between the 'Kashmiri Art and Crafts' and the present-day 'Contemporary Look and Feel' in the business capital of India.

The design incorporated walnut wood lattices, Paper Mache panels, carved furniture, and bidri metal artifacts imported from Srinagar. At 70,000 sq ft across multiple floors, the project demanded a coherent design language that could hold together at scale — from the imposing double-height banking hall to the more intimate private consultation rooms on the upper floors.

The palette is deliberately restrained — walnut, stone, and polished metal — allowing the architecture to provide the assurance a financial institution requires while the Kashmiri craft elements bring warmth, regional identity, and the unmistakable quality of handwork that no corporate formula can replicate.
